What is Pilates?
To put it simply, pilates is a full body conditioning workout that works in a completely different way to your standard exercise classes that you attend.
What a pilates class does is to work on reshaping your body which will be transformed into a much leaner and defined shape which you fully benefit from. Furthermore, the classes will help to adjust your posture as well as giving you the opportunity to gain the perfect balance in both your strength and flexibility.
Many people often find that a pilates class is a great way of relieving stress & tension from your body. The way in which this works is very a slow approach that helps you to achieve longer term results and is a great class to do if you suffer from back problems.
What’s the difference between pilates and yoga?
Before you sign up for a pilates class it is important to know what the differences are between the two. Whilst the methods are complete opposites, both pilates and yoga do develop strength, balance, flexibility, posture and work on building up a good breathing routine. One of the major differences between the two is that pilates takes places on both equipment and mats, where yoga doesn’t need to have any equipment. Furthermore, pilates workouts are carried out using a movement flow without using any static poses which are commonly associated with yoga.
Who can take part in Pilates?
Pilates is a great exercise class for people of all ages, abilities & fitness from first timers right through to hardcore elite athletes. The equipment can be used to give support to those starting for the first time, those that have ongoing medical conditions or people looking to push their body to the limits.
