What a month July has been here at Woodbury Park!

I would really like to thank all of our members for their patience and understanding in particular with regard to the South West Counties Inter County Match week during the first week of this month. Six counties, Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire were represented by teams of lady golfers who were all around scratch handicap and included the current British Ladies Amateur Champion, Emily Toy!

The matches were hard fought and there were two teams in contention on the final day, Somerset and Gloucester, who were actually playing each other! The two teams finished tied on points and the decision had to be calculated over the number of game points over the whole week with Gloucester coming out on top with 31½ points to 27.

We received amazing praise over the whole week, especially for the course conditions and Paul Reeve and his team are to be congratulated on the majestic course they are preparing.

For more information go to the South West Women’s Golf website.

On the 11th July we hosted the annual Woodbury Park Pro-Am, considered to be the best event in the region by many of the amateurs and the Pro’s playing, with 42 teams playing from all over the South West PGA Region. The course conditions helped with the scoring and local Professional Tom Jessamine, who grew up playing his golf here at Woodbury Park, posted a magnificent score of 66, 7 under par, only to be pipped by Richard O’Hanlon late in the day, who birdied the final 3 holes to record an incredible 65, 8 under par. I had the pleasure of playing with our Captains, Andy, Julie and Barrie, I thank them for their company and good play on the day.

Titleist Us Open Bag Draw

Our recent promotion in conjunction with Titleist for the US Open designed golf bag, when purchasing a dozen Titleist golf balls, you were entered in to the draw.  The lucky winner was Paul Clark, one of our Woodbury Members, a very happy man indeed!
