News from the Golf Section

The season is now well and truly underway with two of the clubs major board prizes already competed for. The competition season is progressing nicely with many of the club teams already involved in matches. The men’s Palairet, Parker and Exe League teams will soon be playing their matches and you can make your availability known through the Members system, simply log in, click on the competitions tab and in the drop down, select matches. Check through the dates and add your name where available.

The Ladies are already having some exciting results in many of their teams and the standard of golf is amazing, this is a section to watch the progression of!

The Seniors are also doing themselves proud with some close matches, sadly the Emerton Court team once again got a first match away draw and on a very challenging day (which favoured the home team) they gave themselves an uphill battle for the home match. Their performance was creditable with a 4 and a half points to half a point victory, with no team losing a match; sadly they fell half a point short of an amazing comeback – well done!

The Acorns men have also been competing and had their first match recently and won convincingly. There is a great camaraderie with the group of men in this section, however they will need some help as their numbers need boosting! They meet every Wednesday morning for their roll-ups and competitions, so if you are looking to get a little more involved why not join them and help us to fulfil all of their fixtures. They are a group of men, generally between the ages of 40-60+, who are Acorns members and are extremely friendly and welcoming of new blood into their group, email me if you want help in meeting them – [email protected]

June is a busy month with Presidents Day and Captains Day among the fixtures, please support our President Sir John Evans and your Captains, Andy Neilson and Julie Browne in what are important days in the calendar.

The “need a partner forum” is beginning to pick up pace, please look into this and assist our new members in finding people to play and get cards marked. (On IG/My Golf/Forum)
